Cub Scout Troop 119

My son has started a cub scout troop in his small town - 10 little fellows have signed up, and today is their first cub scout meeting.  Everyone involved is so excited ~  Earlier today, my son and I shopped at the local council's store - bought Bobcat badges for everyone as that is the first thing they will be working on.  We looked at the Pinewood Derby cars, the Rain gutter Regalia boats, and the spaceships (can't remember their name).  We checked out beautiful woolen red shirts (classic Boy Scout), and they were on sale.  I especially love the blue ribbons that said "I did my best".  Can you tell I'm excited to be a part of this!  After our shopping, we had a late breakfast together - nice!

What a whirlwind two weeks I have had!  My friend Jan flew in and kept me company for 15 days - we arted big time.  I own an online group, An Affair with Art, and we created art for several of the monthly swaps - I worked through May.  While i adore my online group, I never seem to be able to find time to do private projects - now I have the time.   True Colors Book Swap is on my agenda -  Yea!

Hello ~ I've worked on row houses today, they're a favorite of mine.  My group is in the midst of a Valentine Row House Swap and I decided to make a couple more for friends.

Since purging has been on my mind for awhile, I made the decision last night to trash an Iris cart full of handmade books and instructions - I made these little books when I attended a bookmaking class/session in St. Francisville, LA probably 15 years ago.  That means a whole freed-up Iris cart!  Whatever shall I fill it with?

I'm expecting a visit from the little bitties tomorrow - What fun to be a grami!

Until next time ~

Let The Weekend Begin

It's Friday afternoon  - I am so ready for my friends' bright smiles and sweet laughter!

The groceries are laid in - lots of fresh veggies, fruits, salad makings, and ground chicken for meatballs with marinara sauce.  Oh, I am wilting some spinach in a skillet with a bit of minced garlic - lightly toasting long bun halves with mozzarella cheese then adding the wilted spinach - yummo!

The art studio is clean- my cleaning ladies cleaned the sitting area in my art room yesterday and I managed to clean off 2 of my worktables.  My table still needs about an hour of purging/putting away.

Art to do - There are plenty of unfinished art projects stacked by my work station.

Another couple of hours and the fun begins!

Can you believe it's been almost 8 years since I've posted on this blog.  Lots of life changes for sure.   If you find my blog, you are always welcome to comment.

Health issues caused me to be unable to plan and hold art retreats any longer - but I can still art and have fun very small retreats at my house.

This weekend 3 of my good friends are coming over and art together.  I plan to catch up of some unfinished projects.

Later Friends!

Retreat Planning

Paper airplanes overhead, notes hurriedly scribbled, lists compiled, art samples on display, telephone calls, pencils being sharpened, coffee cups leaving rings on the table (oh my!), computer keys clicking, chatter/clatter/clutter – this is just a sampling of what’s going on when Jeri Aaron, Artful Gatherings owner, is up to her elbows planning art retreats and workshops. These planning sessions result in a variety of art retreats and workshops offered to the public throughout the year. Most of the retreats are in the central area of Texas but sometimes a surprise or two happens – the retreats are held in other states. You will find a listing of all current retreats and workshops listed on the right side bar. Just click on individual links to get the most up-to-date information on a particular retreat or workshop.

Artful Gatherings also offers Retreat Planning Packets for those who wish to plan their own art retreats. Artful Gatherings also maintains an art studio and holds 6 to 8 hour workshops for small groups. You may contact Jeri Aaron via email – jerilynski@aol.com with any questions about our various retreats and workshops or to set up a workshop in the Artful Gatherings studio.
